Summary

This module requires students to engage in research related to any of the compulsory modules in the MA in Interpreting and Translation and write a dissertation or to apply their interpreting and/or translation skills through an interpreting or translation project with commentary. The dissertation will be 15,000 words in length. Students will receive guidance in the research methods appropriate to their chosen project.
Please note this module is assessed at the end of in Summer semester.  First sit/ Resit exams are scheduled normally in the summer and can take the same form as the missing/ failed component of the assessment (exam, essay etc.) or other form, as decided by the School.

Target Students

Students taking the MA in Interpreting and Translation at the University of Nottingham Ningbo, China

Classes

A maximum of four hours’ supervision meetings with the dissertation supervisor to discuss the design and progress of the project

Educational Aims

The dissertation module provides students with an opportunity to engage in extended research or practical application of their skills in the area of Interpreting and/or Translation. Students will gain in-depth knowledge of at least one critical theoretical or methodological approach.
