Summary
This module offers an introduction to key issues and skills in the discipline for those making the transition to studying English at university level in the School of Education and English at UNNC. Whereas those other modules necessarily concentrate attention within closely-defined disciplinary boundaries (focus that is essential to learning specific skills and acquiring specialist knowledge), this module emphasises points of intersections between the diverse disciplines contained within the study of English at university level.
Students are encouraged to explore critically and reflexively what it means to be a student of English, and are supported in developing a toolkit of study, research and communication skills which can be transferred to other modules.
Students who wish to enroll in this module must attend the first two weeks of class.
Please note: This module is assessed at the end of Autumn semester. First sit/ Re-sit exams are scheduled normally in the summer and can take the same form as the missing/ failed component of the assessment (exam, essay etc.) or other form, as decided by the School.
