Summary
The module will be split in two parts. The first part will include research training in three areas chosen from a portfolio of advanced research courses, together with participation in a reading group or seminar series studying key research papers chosen fields of specialism. The courses will expose the students to cutting edge techniques and research themes in the main fields of economics, including macroeconomics, microeconomic theory, applied economics, behavioural economics and computational economics. The second part of the module will consist of a 10,000 word dissertation which will include original research, with the intention that this work will form the foundation for future PhD studies.

Available for students studying MRes Economics.
Classes
Students are required to attend research training sessions in three chosen areas which will be delivered via lectures, seminars tutorials and/or computer classes.
Assessment
- 15% Coursework 1: End of Semester 2, 3000 words
- 15% Coursework 2: End of Semester 2, 3000 words
- 15% Coursework 3: End of Semester 2, 3000 words
- 5% Coursework 4: End of Semester 2, 2000 words
- 50% Dissertation: End of August, 10000 words

Learning Outcomes
On completing this module, students should be able to:
