Summary
The module will introduce some major themes of public economics, using microeconomic tools to analyse public policy. The equity and efficiency implications of policies will be examined within an economic framework.
Prerequisite: ECON2028 Microeconomic Theory
Please note this module is assessed at the end of in Autumn semester. First sit/ Resit exams are scheduled normally in the summer and can take the same form as the missing/ failed component of the assessment (exam, essay etc.) or other form, as decided by the School.

- One 1-hour seminar each week for 4 weeks
- One 2-hour lecture each week for 9 weeks

Educational Aims
The module is designed to familiarize students with theoretical perspectives, methods of analysis, and concepts used in economic analyses of government. The aim is to understand how government institutions work, how they could be designed better, and how they influence policy making and economic outcomes.Learning Outcomes
