Summary
This module will serve as an introduction to financial economics and offers a complete exposure to major concepts of asset pricing and corporate finance.
ECON1033 Introduction to Microeconomics and ECON1034 Introduction to Macroeconomics are the requisites of this module.
Please note: This module is assessed at the end of Spring semester. First sit/ Re-sit exams are scheduled normally in the summer and can take the same form as the missing/ failed component of the assessment (exam, essay etc.) or other form, as decided by the School.

- One 1-hour tutorial each week for 3 weeks
- One 2-hour lecture each week for 10 weeks

- 100% Exam 1 (2-hour): 2 hours written exam

Educational Aims
The primary emphasis of this module is to understand the economics of asset pricing and corporate finance. It will introduce and discuss optimal portfolio choices and standard models of asset pricing model like CAPM and APT. It will also discuss the theory of efficient capital markets and topics in corporate finance. The empirical evidence for/against various approaches to financial economics will also be evaluated.Learning Outcomes
