This module focuses on a range of current issues facing the world economy, seeks to illustrate how economists model such issues, and examines potential policy responses. Example topics to be covered are:
1. Globalisation
2. Economic Growth
3. The Global Financial Crisis
4. The World Economy
5. Emerging Economic Superpowers
6. Consequences of Rising Economic Nationalism.
Target Students
Available for Year 1 Undergraduate students on Economics degree programmes, including Year 1 BA Jt Hons Politics and Economics students.

Educational Aims
The key aims of this module are to:Examine critically a number of current economic challenges facing the UK and the world economyUse economic analysis to investigate and clarify the underlying drivers of these challengesIdentify potential gainers and losers and the role of economic policy in maximising the net benefits/minimizing the net costs.This module aims to enable the participants to develop skills in reflection of understanding of material through tutorial questions and engagement in discussions during tutorials.Learning Outcomes
