Summary
This module will consist of the selection, research and writing up of a topic in the field of Cultural, Media and Visual Studies, chosen after consultation with the Course Director and other appropriate staff members.
Target Students
Postgraduate taught students in Cultural, Media and Visual Studies only
Classes
- One 1-hour workshop each week for 4 weeks
Workshops: training in academic integrity and research ethics, writing a research question, research methods Individual supervision: one-to-one guidance and advice, feedback on dissertation plans and draft material.
Assessment
- 100% Dissertation: 12,000-15,000 word dissertation
Assessed by end of summer vacation

To enable students to make the transition from undergraduate study to research-based study; to encourage the understanding and analysis at a level appropriate to postgraduate study; to encourage critical evaluation of current research; to enable students to engage in the independent analysis of media, communication and cultural industries (as relevant to programme).Learning Outcomes
