Summary

Chinese Culture Course is a compulsory course to all domestic Chinese undergraduate students.  The Course consists of three modules: theory module, practice module, and research lectures. Students need to complete all three modules to pass the Course. Chinese Culture Course focuses on topics about China and the world. It advocates pluralistic perspectives in teaching and learning, and aims to develop student’s ability to think critically. The Course is delivered in combination of lectures and seminars, and requires students to engage both individually and in a group.

Educational Aims

This module aims to help students deeply grasp the continuity and vitality of Chinese civilization, understand what China, Chinese people, and Chinese culture are, and cultivate students' idea for the cultures and national conditions of various countries around the world.

Learning Outcomes

Understand how to face "history" and appreciate the continuity of "Chinese culture" between modernity and tradition.

Understand the historical and cultural characteristics of China and other countries in the world rationally and objectively, also can hold an empathetic and equal attitude in future global exchanges through the method of comparison and multiple mutual observation between China and other countries.

Learn history and culture through interdisciplinary thinking methods, hoping that students to become the type of talents who not only understand their home country, but also the rest of the world.
