Summary
In depth exploration of qualitative research methodology including methods of collection and analysis of data. To include, for example, qualitative case studies, ethnography, grounded theory and discursive approaches.
Target Students
Business School MSc students subject to compliance with module choice requirements, as listed in the degree programme specification. In addition, other MA/MSc students subject to the discretion of the Director of MSc Programmes.
Classes
- Two 2-hour lectures each week for 5 weeks
20 contact hours, 80 hours of self-study time.
Assessment
- 80% Individual Coursework: Coursework 3,000 words (80%)
- 20% ACP: Active class participation (20%)
Educational Aims
To build upon the teaching of basic qualitative research methods in order to enhance students' understanding of key techniques of qualitative analysis. To provide more advanced skills in support of both other modules taught on the Masters Programmes and, particularly, dissertation research involving qualitative research.Learning Outcomes
• Pervasive Issues - these would include sustainability, globalisation, corporate social responsibility, diversity, business innovation, creativity, enterprise development, knowledge management and risk management
• Ability to recognise and address ethical dilemmas and corporate social responsibility issues, applying ethical and organisational values to situations and choices
• This module develops a knowledge and understanding of theories, models, frameworks, tasks and roles of management
