Summary
The module aims to emphasise the importance of answering the question "In whose interests should organisations be run?" before beginning the process of financial decision making. The module also aims to develop the key skills of forecasting and valuing risky cash flows, and the ability to apply these skills in financial decision making contexts.

Assessment
- 45% Coursework 1: Individual Coursework consisting of 3 mini cases (15 marks each)
- 55% Coursework 2: 2,500 Words Report
Educational Aims
To highlight the key aspects of corporate finance and to identify the implications of current research for practice. The emphasis will be on the identification of applicable skills and models.Learning Outcomes

This module develops a knowledge and understanding of:
- The dynamics of the global economy and international business and/or an awareness of cultural, legal/regulatory, political, and economic differences across countries and/or an appreciation of management issues from a global perspective.
- Markets - the development and operation of markets for resources, goods and services
- Finance - the sources, uses and management of finance; the use of accounting and other information systems for managerial applications
- Tools and techniques for transforming (big) data into useful information for business analysis and decision support
- The importance of sustainability issues, including an understanding of the challenges and opportunities arising from the activities of people and organisations on the economic, social and environmental conditions of the future
Intellectual skills
This module develops:
- Being able to think critically and be creative: manage the creative processes in self and others; organise thoughts, analyse, synthesise and critically appraise. This includes the capability to identify assumptions, evaluate statements in terms of evidence, detect false logic or reasoning, identify implicit values, define terms adequately and generalise appropriately
