This course builds on knowledge gained in International Business Strategy: Micro & Macro but deepens students’ understanding about international alliances. The subject focuses on issues related to the motives of international alliances, the governance structures of international alliances, management of international alliances, and the termination of international alliances.
Re-assessment format is decided by the school.

Year 4 undergraduates

- One 1-hour-30-minute lecture each week for 12 weeks
Assessment
- 30% Coursework: 15 mins group presentation on coursework
- 70% Exam 1 (1-hour-30-minute): 1.5 hour exam (70% of total grade)

Educational Aims
The main aims of this course are as follows:•To provide an overview of the development of alliance strategies•To develop an in-depth knowledge about the various structures of alliances across borders•To acquire and hone the capabilities and competences to successfully manage alliances.•To raise the awareness of the merits and risks associated with allying with firms from other cultures.•To practice and strengthen the skills to analyze the real-life cases and find to viable solutions.Learning Outcomes

- The dynamic and changing nature of business and the consideration of the future of organisations within the global business environment, including the management of risk
- The management of outsourcing
- The development of appropriate policies and strategies within a changing environment to meet stakeholder interests

This module develops:
- The ability to analyse facts and circumstances to determine the cause of a problem and identifying and selecting appropriate solutions
