Summary

All companies have to choose where to locate their premises and how to arrange the manufacturing and service departments within those premises. This module provides an understanding of the factors which influence a company's choice of location, and of how to approach the design of layouts to support a company's strategic objectivs and maximise the efficiency of its operations.

Target Students

Level 2 and 3/4 undergraduate students. Also available to Exchange Students.

Educational Aims

To provide a knowledge and understanding of the strategic, economic and operational issues which influence decisions on the choice of country, region and site when locating enterprises.To develop skills in developing layouts which support operational effectiveness and meet the challenges of modern business.
