This module concentrates on the major investment and financing decisions made by managers within a firm.
This module will introduce the following topics:
- Activity based costing;
- Process costing;
- Transfer pricing;
- The changing role of the management accountant;
- Curvilinear cost functions (eg the learning curve);
- pricing decisions and strategies;
- the range of alternative approaches to performance measurement and their respective merits/problems.
- The use of accounting and other information for planning, control, and decision making.
Re-assessment format is decided by the school.

- One 1-hour seminar each week for 5 weeks
- Two 1-hour-30-minute lectures each week for 11 weeks

Educational Aims
The aim this module is to build on the learning from Fundamentals of Finance and Management Accounting in order to further develop students’ skills in thecomputational aspects of management accounting and explore the relevance, significance and applicability ofsuch techniques. In addition, this module critically examines the role of management accounting in costmanagement, pricing decisions and performancemeasurement.Learning Outcomes
