Summary

This module will introduce the following topics:

Activity based costing; Process costing; Transfer pricing; The changing role of the management accountant; Curvilinear cost functions (eg the learning curve); pricing decisions and strategies; the range of alternative approaches to performance measurement and their respective merits/problems.

Available to Part I and Part II Business School studentswith the required pre-requisite BUSI1103 Fundamentals of Financial and Management Accounting.

Educational Aims

The aim this module is to build on the learning from Fundamentals of Finance and Management Accounting in order to further develop students’ skills in the computational aspects of management accounting and explore the relevance, significance and applicability of such techniques. In addition, this module critically examines the role of management accounting in cost management, pricing decisions and performance measurement.
