BUSI1113 Fundamentals of Financial & Management Accounting OR BUSI1122 Introduction to Accounting

Introduction to income tax; employment income; national insurance contributions; corporation tax; trading profits and basis of assessment; capital allowances; capital gains tax (individuals); value added tax.
Re-assessment format is decided by the school.
Classes
- One 1-hour seminar each week for 3 weeks
- One 2-hour lecture each week for 12 weeks
Activities may take place every teaching week of the Semester or only in specified weeks. It is usually specified above if an activity only takes place in some weeks of a Semester
Assessment
- 100% Exam 1 (2-hour): One 2 hour, examination (100%)

Educational Aims
The aim of the module is to enable students to understand the general objectives of taxation and to calculate income tax, national insurance contributions, capital gains tax, corporation tax and VAT in straightforward scenarios.Learning Outcomes

•The sources, uses and management of finance. The use of accounting and other information systems for planning, control, and decision making.

•The ability to analyse facts and circumstances to determine the cause of a problem and identifying and selecting appropriate solutions.
•The ability to analyse and evaluate a range of business data, sources of information and appropriate methodologies, which includes the need for strong digital literacy, and to use that research for evidence-based decision-making
