Summary
This module introduces students to the changing role of business in society. In particular, students will analyse the direct responsibilities of companies to respect human rights while fostering sustainable development. They will gain an understanding of emerging policy frameworks that manage societal governance dynamics in responsible business conduct.
Target Students
Available to Year 2 or Year 3 undergraduate students in the Business School including those on the BA Hons Geography with Business degree. Also available to Exchangestudents.
Classes
- One 1-hour-30-minute seminar each week for 2 weeks
- One 1-hour-30-minute lecture each week for 10 weeks
Assessment
- 100% Coursework 1: One 2,500 word individual essay

Educational Aims
To critically think about the changing role of business in society. The module builds on the direct responsibilities of the private sector towards human rights and sustainable development.Learning Outcomes

• The importance of sustainability issues, including an understanding of the challenges and opportunities arising from the activities of people and organisations on the economic, social and environmental conditions of the future
