Summary
The module explores the nature of work and society. The module will look at the development of our understanding of work and society. There will be a historical and critical review of the schools of thought and key writers. The development of the industrial and the post-industrial society will be explored and its impact on the nature of work.
Examples of research into individual and group experiences of work and management will be discussed.
Re-assessment format is decided by the school.
Target Students
Compulsory for IBC/ IBL/ IBM Qualifying Year students. Optional for FAM/ IBE Qualifying Year students.
Classes
- One 1-hour-30-minute seminar each week for 3 weeks
- One 1-hour-30-minute lecture each week for 12 weeks
Assessment
- 100% Exam 1 (1-hour-30-minute): 1.5 hours Exam
