Summary
The module explores the nature of work and society. The module will look at the development of our understanding of work and society. The development of the industrial and the post-industrial society will be explored and its impact on the nature of work, organisation and management. There will be a historical and critical review of the schools of thought and key writers. Examples of research into individual and group experiences of work, organisation and management will be discussed.
Target Students
Available to Qualifying Year Business School, Applied Psychology, Economics, Mathematical Sciences, Media, Languages and Culturesand Psychology students only. This module is not available to Part I and Part II students.This module is offered in both Autumn and Spring semesters.For Spring semester, please note that this module is available to February Intake Business School students only..
Classes
- One 1-hour-30-minute tutorial
- One 2-hour tutorial
- One 2-hour lecture each week for 10 weeks
10 two-hour lectures, 1 two-hour tutorial, and 1 one hour thirty minutes tutorial per semester.
Assessment
- 100% Exam 1 (1-hour-30-minute): One 1.5-hour examination
