Summary
To develope awareness of language and methodoly associated with the study of business and management in order to familirise students with the the intellectual demands of university level education.
Target Students
Students enrolled in Foundation in Business and Management students
Classes
- One 1-hour tutorial each week for 5 weeks
- Two 1-hour-30-minute lectures each week for 10 weeks
Assessment
- 40% Coursework 1: 2000 word essay x 40%
- 30% Coursework 2: 2000 words essay x 30%
- 30% Exam (1-hour-30-minute): 1 x 90 minutes examination (30%)

Educational Aims
-Develope awareness of the language and methodology associated with the study o business and management in order to familirise students with the intellectual demands of a university level education.-Provide students with the opportunity to develop understanding of business organisations by considering the basic principles of business and management and the range and nature of activities associated with the management of organisations in a dynamic external environment.Learning Outcomes
-Demonstrate the understanding of principles of business and management , and appropriate strategies to meet stakeholders' needs in a changing environment.
-Develop the cognitive skills of critical thinking, analysis and synthesis including the ability to indentify assumptions, to detect false logic or reasoning, to define terms adequately and to generalize appopriately.
-Demonstrate the ability to organize ideas gained from the theoretical understanding of business management principles and apply them to business situations.
-Demonstrate qualitative skills of business problem analysis, research and solution, including to work with case studies.
-Show the ability of self-awareness, teamwork, independent learning and leadership skills.
