Summary
The course is concerned with the application of management principles to the modern rural business. This will involve - the construction and interpretation of business accounts (profit and loss, cash flow, balance sheet, partial budgets) - business planning and budgeting - labour and machinery management - forms of business organisation - risk management. The module emphasises involvement in a 'real-life' case study.
Target Students
Only available for Biosciences students.
Classes
- One 2-hour workshop each week for 5 weeks
- One 2-hour tutorial each week for 5 weeks
- One 2-hour lecture each week for 7 weeks
- One 4-hour field studies
Assessment
- 100% Coursework 1: Team project and individual analysis (800 words)

Educational Aims
The module aims to develop students' knowledge of business management principles and to provide them with an opportunity to apply these principles to the type of problems facing rural businesses at the present time. Students will also learn and practice the teamwork, time management and data analysis skills which are vital when working in business.Learning Outcomes
