Summary
Students will be attached to selected industries for industrial placement. This shall form part of the degree programme.
Industrial placement will take place during the Year 2 Summer period for a minimum of 8-week.
Students will be monitored and mentored by the Industrial Placement coordinator. They will keep an online log book of attendance and experience, producing a reflective journal at the end of the 8-week placement.
Target Students
BSc (Hons) in Biotechnology. Enrolment is by the agreement of the module convener or Biotechnology Programme Director only. Note: Students are reminded that enrolments which are not agreed by the Offering School in advance may be cancelled without notice.
Classes
- Five 8-hour placements each week for 8 weeks
Assessment
- 100% Coursework: Online log book and reflective log.
Educational Aims
The industrial placement module aims to provide students with the opportunity to:▪ gain industry experience▪ apply degree-related knowledge and skills to real-life situations▪ acquire and develop technical skills associated with the nature of their work▪ develop interpersonal and communication skills, essential for the workplace▪ apply knowledge that will help students to plan and evaluate future study and career development.▪ foster partnerships between the Nottingham University (UNM) and industry partners.While this program is not compulsory and does not earn any credit points towards your programme, it does give you the opportunity to gain valuable experience you can draw upon when applying for jobs after you graduate and enhance employability.Learning Outcomes
