Summary
A central goal of higher education is to help students understand the world in which they live and navigate it successfully. Hence, the primary learning objective of the module is to help students learn how individual choices and evolving social institutions affect human decision making.
This module provides an introduction to philosophy and politics. It starts off with the basic tenets of different philosophical concepts such as values and ethics, and then moves on to core social concepts of power, justice and democracy

Students enrolled in Foundation Arts and Education
Classes
- One 1-hour seminar each week for 6 weeks
- One 3-hour lecture each week for 10 weeks
Assessment
- 15% Coursework 1: 1500-word coursework essay
- 15% Coursework 2: 1500-word coursework essay
- 10% In-class Exam 1: 1 hour
- 10% In-class Exam 2: 1 hour
- 50% Exam (1-hour-30-minute): 1.5 hour
